The activities undertaken by the Kenya Muslims Charitable Society to propagate and disseminate Islamic knowledge include:
- Establishment of Islamic cultural reading centres in Nairobi, Garissa and Wajir.
- Conducting and organizing major Da’awah conferences across the country.
- Organizing seminars and educational workshops for Islamic schools’ teachers and students.
- Organizing weekly public lectures at the Nairobi centre.
- Conducting monthly lectures at Jamia Multipurpose Hall on emerging trends and issues.
- Da’awah caravans to far-flung schools, madrasas, mosques and other public places.
- Constant Durus at mosques e.g. Qur’an Tafsir, Sira of the Prophet (SAW), Hadith, etc.
Challenge & Solution
The society manages three public libraries located in Nairobi, Mandera, and Wajir, which have been significant cultural hubs. They have played a key role in promoting a reading culture within the Muslim communities.
Additionally, the Kenya Muslim Cultural Society (KMCS) regularly organizes public lectures on current and relevant topics at the Jamia Multipurpose Hall. These events serve as a platform for engaging the community in thoughtful discussions, fostering intellectual growth, and providing valuable insights into various issues affecting society. Through these lectures, KMCS aims to encourage critical thinking, knowledge sharing, and a deeper understanding of contemporary challenges and opportunities.
